An AMC candidate account holds your information and available options. 

• To view information and use the available options, you must create an AMC candidate account. 
• If you had an AMC account prior to 1 October 2015, you must create a new AMC candidate account to view the information and available options. 

• If you created an AMC online account after 1 October 2015, you can log in to your AMC candidate account. 

• Adding your AMC number (if applicable)

The AMC portfolio is an online application system that replaced paper applications. 

AMC portfolio applications are reviewed within 5 business days. 

Fees apply when you submit your initial portfolio application and for adding additional qualification(s).  

You will need an AMC portfolio if:

• You have applied to the AMC previously, and an AMC candidate number was issued but NO qualification(s) have been previously  verified.
• You have NOT submitted any application to the AMC previously.
• You need to submit qualification(s) for verification through ECFMG that have not been previously verified as the status does not appear on your AMC candidate.
• You have not submitted a paper application prior to 1 October 2015 to the AMC previously and have not been issued with an AMC candidate number.
• You have not completed your AMC online application (Form P1) prior to 1 October 2015, and have not been issued with an AMC candidate number.

To be eligible, you must have completed all of the requirements (training and examinations) in a course of study in medicine (clinical) and surgery for the award of a medical degree (final medical diploma/primary qualification). You must have been awarded an eligible medical degree issued by an eligible medical school, degree title in clinical medicine and surgery and graduation year.

PSV means verifying the credentials or awards that a candidate has achieved from the source, that is from the training organisation that awarded the credential or qualification.

PSV through ECFMG is mandatory under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law, as in force in each state and territory (the National Law) for all international medical graduates seeking medical registration in Australia. 

No. All qualifications previously submitted to the AMC for EICS verification and confirmed as verified, are still valid. A Verification of Medical Qualification (otherwise known as EICS verification certificate) was issued to confirm the verification of the qualification. 

All qualifications previously verified through EPIC verification process, are still valid.

All verification status(es) will appear in your AMC candidate account.

You need to create a MyIntealth  account directly with ECFMG (if you haven’t already).

The AMC is not involved in the verification process directly, we only receive the verification status(es) if nominated when you uploaded the credential(s)/qualification(s).

No. You can request a verification report via your MyIntealth account through ECFMG. 

As you upload each qualification to your MyIntealth account for verification, you must nominate the AMC to receive the verification statuses. 

If you do this, an outsource notification will be sent to the AMC automatically when the request is outsourced (sent) to your medical institution.

If this was done this, a verification report will be sent automatically to the AMC once your credential/qualification is verified. If you need to send an additional report of a qualification, you will need to request this through your MyIntealth account.

If the EICS verification was undertaken by the AMC and still outstanding, you will need to resubmit the qualification to ECFMG for EPIC verification and submit AMC portfolio for that qualification.

Yes. Refer to your AMC candidate account, select ‘See qualifications’ and next to your EICS verification status of ‘yes’ will be the option of ‘view certificate’ to select and view your electronic verification of your Verification of Medical Qualification (otherwise known as EICS verification certificate). 

A medical degree (final medical diploma/primary qualification) is the formal qualification awarded after completion of a course of study in medicine (clinical), surgery that enables the person holding the qualification to work as a medical practitioner in Australia.

General (non-specialist) medical registration in Australia requires a practitioner to complete a comprehensive program of training and examination.

Medical training consists of a medical degree (final medical diploma/primary qualification) obtained from an eligible medical school in an eligible degree title and graduation year as listed on the AMC website.

The AMC can only accept the 3 credential categories from ECFMG regarding verification for a medical degree (final medical diploma/primary qualification):

• Final Medical Diploma
• Final Medical Transcript
• Alternate Graduation Document

You will need to discuss with ECFMG regarding what format is acceptable for either category, as the AMC cannot advise on formats/document requirements of credentials. ECFMG review each credential and make the determination if that credential is acceptable for ECFMG certification and verification.

If a verification in any of the 3 categories above is received, the AMC can upload the verification status to the AMC candidate account and then the candidate can proceed with the relevant assessment process.  Verification is not required for Australian or New Zealand medical degrees.

The Medical Board of Australia requires the medical degree (final medical diploma/primary qualification) (for e.g. MBBS, etc). to be verified for medical registration purposes. 

If you have not yet been issued with the medical degree (final medical diploma/primary qualification), other documentation options include: 

• Final Medical Diploma – the diploma issued by your medical school or university after you have completed all requirements for and been awarded your medical degree. The Final Medical Diploma may also be referred to as the Primary Medical Qualification, Carton Degree, Conferral Certificate, or Decorative Degree; this is the credential used for framing and wall-hanging purposes. You may upload only one final medical diploma to ECFMG. For the title of the medical credential ECFMG requires as the Final Medical Diploma, please see the Reference Guide for Medical Education Credentials on the ECFMG website. 
• Alternate Graduation Document – a document, other than a final medical diploma, issued by your medical school or university confirming that you graduated (passed all examinations and completed required internship period) from medical school and are eligible to receive your medical degree. 
• Final Medical School Transcript – the transcript issued by your medical school or university after you have completed all requirements for and been awarded your medical degree. Transcripts may also be known as mark sheets, time sheets, or hour sheets, and should include a listing of all subjects studied and your grades/marks for each subject. 

If either a final medical school transcript or alternate graduation document/medical school letter is used for verification, the Board may still require you to submit your final medical diploma for verification when applying for registration.

Once you have submitted your portfolio, allow approximately within 5 business days for processing.  

If you are a new applicant, your AMC candidate number will be stated in your AMC candidate account once your application has been processed.

If you are an existing candidate, your AMC candidate number already appears on your AMC candidate account.

You can access your assessment and verification statuses through your AMC candidate account.

You can update your contact details through your AMC candidate account by selecting the “Update contact details” option on the landing page.

Information about employment is available from Australian State and Territory Health Authorities, including Doctor Connect. The AMC does not process applications or provide advice on employment in Australia. 

Information about Medicare provider numbers is available from Services Australia. The AMC does not have information about Medicare provider numbers. 

You may authorise a third party to act on your behalf by completing the Authorised Third Party Form (to act on my behalf) form.  

Once you have completed the authorisation form, upload the form via your AMC candidate account through the ‘Add new evidence’ option at the bottom of your landing page for processing. 

Internship is a registration requirement.  Contact the Medical Board of Australia for information on their internship requirements for registration.

When submitting your application with payment, you are issued with an authorisation to schedule for one CAT MCQ Examination event in the specified MCQ authorisation period. You are also issued with a receipt and list of examination event dates into which you can schedule.  

The authorisation covers a 12-month period starting from the time of payment.  

You must schedule and undertake one of the CAT MCQ examination events within your authorisation period, or you will need to reapply for authorisation with payment.

The AMC may include additional CAT MCQ Examination dates throughout a calendar year. It is important that you view the AMC website to be informed of any additional examination dates. 

A candidate can reschedule their current CAT MCQ Examination as long as it is before the closing date.  

Once a closing date has passed, rescheduling, cancellations or extensions are not permitted.  

To reschedule a CAT MCQ examination, you need to contact Pearson VUE.  

The AMC does not give extensions for authorisations. You can apply for a new authorisation. 

A candidate may cancel their authorisation, but only under extenuating circumstances.  

Supporting documentation is required. This may include a statutory declaration explaining why you must cancel or a medical certificate with the medical condition stated for the reason of cancellation. You will be notified of the outcome of your request. 

A cancellation fee applies.  

You should contact the Department of Home Affairs. The AMC does not process visas or provide advice. 

The AMC does not allow cancellation of an authorisation due to visa issues or delays. You may reschedule an examination within your current authorisation period. 

Yes. To apply for a verification of your examination result: 

1. log on to your AMC candidate account 
2. go to the results page  
3. request verification of your result  
4. make payment 
5. you will receive an email with further information from the AMC 
6. within 7-10 business days of the 4-week closing date, you will receive the verification outcome. 

You must make the request within 4 weeks from the date the results are released.  The verification option will not be available after 4 weeks has passed. 

You can print a copy from your AMC candidate account. 

If your results are not available in your AMC candidate account, to obtain a copy, you need to complete and submit a Request for duplicate copies of results form. 

Your CAT MCQ examination result does not expire.

The format of examination stations has been developed for online delivery. The assessment blueprint and criteria remain the same as the in-person examination with the exception of hands-on components of physical examination.  You are required to exhibit clinical reasoning, interpretation and detailed description of physical examination techniques and process.  You may be delivering this information to either the examiner, patient, family member, carer or health professional. 

Apple computers that run the Windows 11 operating system can be used. However, Apple computers running iOS are not supported for the examination.  Personal mobile devices such as mobile phones or tablets cannot be used for the examination. 

After you have scheduled your position online you will be prompted to a payment screen where you will be able to make the payment by credit card. 

You have 15 minutes to complete your payment online using a credit card. Otherwise your placement will be forfeited. 

Your AMC candidate account examination status will change to – Scheduled in a Clinical examination.  

Your placement letter and payment receipt will be available to download after confirmation of payment transfer. 

No. You can only make one application at a time. 

Your Clinical examination result does not expire. 

You can print a copy from your AMC candidate account. 

If your results are not available in your AMC candidate account, to obtain a copy, you need to complete and submit a Request for duplicate copies of results form. 

Yes. If you pass you will receive an AMC Certificate, available in your AMC candidate account. 

Once you have received your results from the scheduled examination, you can apply for the next available clinical examination. 

If you have sat and passed the AMC CAT MCQ Examination (onshore or offshore) and you are employed in a clinical position at an AMC accredited WBA authority, you are eligible to apply for WBA. The accredited authority has the final responsibility for offering places in its WBA program. 

Yes. The WBA option is available only to international medical graduates already working in clinical positions at AMC-accredited sites. 

Yes. The Standard Pathway (AMC examinations) is available to you if you satisfy the eligibility requirements. 

You cannot undertake both at the same time. 

If you withdraw from the WBA program, you can apply to sit for the clinical examination or reapply to do WBA at a later date. Withdrawal fees may apply.  

The cost of completing a WBA varies for the different providers. Please check with your employer to determine the cost of the assessment. 

There is an additional AMC fee for WBAs.  

Yes. You will receive an AMC Certificate available in your AMC candidate account. 

If you fail the WBA, you can reapply to an accredited provider. Alternatively, you can apply to the AMC to sit for the AMC Clinical Examination.
