Medical Educator

Academic Level C equivalent: $131,929 to $161,551 p.a. plus superannuation

 

The Australian Medical Council is a national standards, assessment and accreditation authority for medicine. It sets accreditation standards for medical programs and accredits programs against those standards.  It assesses international medical graduates seeking to practice in Australia.

The AMC Medical Educator will contribute to projects linked to the AMC Strategic Plan as well as two major projects related to the review of assessments of international medical graduates: the Assessment Redesign Project, which concerns the review of the AMC’s national examination for international medical graduates, with a focus on the clinical examination; and the AMC support of the Medical Board of Australia’s review of the specialist international medical graduate assessment pathways.

The position requires knowledge of the international medical graduate assessment pathways, including the assessment of specialists trained overseas; experience in education and/or assessment program review and/or developing or testing assessment tools, strong capabilities in critical and analytical thinking, and effective communication and presentation skills. Much of the work is team based, and entails working in in a joint academic and professional staff team. Enjoying variety, supporting others to achieve success, and working respectfully with stakeholders with differing points of view are essential to success.
