MCQ examination fee increases
The AMC announces fee increases for AMC examinations, with effect for examinations scheduled to be conducted on or after 1 July 2014. The fee increases apply to AMC MCQ Examination. Click here to view the new fees.
Candidates who have purchased authorisations for the AMC MCQ Examination should note the following.
- Candidates who have paid for an MCQ Examination Authorisation and who are scheduled for an examination to be conducted before 1 July 2014 will not be affected by the increased fee.
- Candidates who have paid for an MCQ Examination Authorisation at the existing fee and who are unable to schedule for a MCQ examination to be held before 1 July 2014, will be required to pay the balance of the fee increase. Note that whilst these candidates will be able to schedule for and sit an examination to be held on or after 1 July 2014, their result for the examination will not be released until the difference between the current and the increased fee is paid.
Potential applicants for the AMC MCQ Examination who have not yet purchased an MCQ Examination Authorisation, but who do so and schedule for an examination before 1 July 2014 will not pay the increased fee. Candidates who apply for an authorisation or who schedule an examination after 1 July 2014 will pay the increased fee.
The AMC Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) MCQ Examination is a computer-administered fully integrated multi-choice question examination delivered in one 3.5 hour session in examination centres worldwide.
The examination consists of 150 A-type MCQs (one correct response from five options)—120 scored items and 30 (non-scored) pilot items. You are expected to complete all 150 items and must complete the 120 scored items. Failure to complete all 120 scored items in the examination may lead to insufficient information for a reliable determination of your ability and therefore a result on the AMC adaptive scale. The examination result is recorded as ‘Fail—Insufficient data to obtain result’.
