New feature release for AMC portfolio

The Australian Medical Council (AMC) is collaborating with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) to enhance the primary source verification of medical credentials process for international medical graduates (IMGs) applying for registration to practice medicine in Australia.

On 1 October 2015, the AMC released its AMC portfolio to support the use of ECFMG’s Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (EPIC) service to verify International Medical Graduate’s (IMGs) medical credentials for registration purposes with the Medical Board of Australia, and for specialist assessment by an Australian Medical College.

The AMC is pleased to announce a new feature release to enhance the IMG application process. This new feature enables IMGs, who have previously established an AMC portfolio, to add additional qualifications to their AMC portfolio for a small fee of $40 per qualification.

All verification status updates, including images of the qualification documentation, will be uploaded on the AMC’s qualification portal for access by AHPRA for registration purposes, and Australian specialist medical colleges for assessment purposes. This design simplifies the AMC application experience and reduces the costs for AMC candidates with multiple qualifications.

This is a transitional system that will include future updates as AMC works towards streamlined and improved digital application and support processes.
