Australian Medical Council appoints new President, Deputy President and Directors
AMC Council at its AGM on 25 November 2022 elected Professor Geoff McColl as President, Dr Bruce Mugford as Deputy President and Dr Tammy Kimpton, Dr Elizabeth Rushbrook and Mr Tom Symonds as Directors.

AMC launches Reconciliation Action Plan
The AMC launched its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan at its June 2019 Council meeting. The Reconciliation Action Plan provides a framework for the AMC to strengthen its relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, influence health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and establish the best approach to advance reconciliation.

Australian Medical Council endorses ‘Uluru Statement from the Heart’
The AMC has endorsed the Uluru Statement from the Heart, (the Uluru statement), the result of a constitutional convention held in 2017 at the foot of Uluru that brought together over 250 leaders from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. In endorsing the Uluru Statement from the Heart, which calls for the establishment of a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Constitution and seeks a Makarrata Commission to supervise a process of agreement-making between governments and First Nations and truth-telling about our history the AMC is affirming its commitment to strive for health equity and equality for all Australians, including Australia’s First Nations peoples.

AMC welcomes new Director and Member of Council
The AMC welcomes Dr Andrew Singer AM as the incoming Chair of the Prevocational Standards Accreditation Committee and ex-officio AMC Director. The AMC also welcomes Mr Tom Symonds as the incoming Community Member of Council.
