AMC Member and Committee Opportunities


The AMC operates in accordance with the Constitution which sets out the terms of formation, membership, chair, term of office and quorum for the Council and its committees.

The members of the AMC are appointed according to the Constitution and are drawn from a wide cross-section of the groups associated with medical education, health delivery and with the standards of medical practice in Australia. The Members have the ultimate right to determine the future of the AMC and have responsibility for the appointment and removal of AMC Directors.

There are five AMC Standing Committees: Medical School Accreditation Committee, the Prevocational Standards Accreditation Committee, Specialist Education Accreditation Committee, the Assessment Committee and the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Māori Committee.

Vocational Trainee EOI

The AMC is seeking to appoint an appropriate person as a Council Member who is or has recently been a vocational trainee working primarily in Australia.

As well as the opportunity to be involved in the work of the AMC, the position provides opportunities to serve on AMC committees, expert groups and panels covering a range of business areas across the AMC. The appointed Member will also have the opportunity to interact with a wide range of experienced members of the medical profession, health consumers and members of the community represented on the Council, and with those involved directly in health services delivery.

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Medical Practitioner member

The AMC is seeking to appoint as a Council Member a registered medical practitioner who is Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander.

As well as the opportunity to be involved in the work of the AMC, the position provides opportunities to serve on AMC committees, expert groups and panels covering a range of business areas across the AMC. The appointed Member will also have the opportunity to interact with a wide range of members of the medical profession, health consumers and members of the community represented on the Council, and with those involved directly in health services delivery.
