Primary Source Verification of Medical Qualifications (EICS verification) |

Candidates assessed by the AMC after 1 January 2006
From 1 January 2006, all applicants for: - the AMC Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) and Clinical Examinations for non-specialist registration
- the Specialist Assessment Pathway for registration as a specialist, or
- the Specialist Area of Need Pathway Assessment for registration for an area of need position
require primary source verification of their medical qualifications through the International Credentials Service of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates of the United States (EICS verification).
Candidates assessed by the AMC before 1 January 2006
If you had your qualifications assessed as eligible before 1 January 2006 and now wish to proceed with EICS verification of your primary medical degree, you must submit either: The form must be lodged with the relevant fee as per the AMC fee structure.
Witnessing of Form EICS V1The AMC accepts the following people as eligible to witness Form V1 and associated documentation.
In Australia
- A Justice of the Peace.
- A Chief Magistrate, Police Magistrate, Resident Magistrate or Special Magistrate.
- A person appointed under the Statutory Declarations Act of 1959 as amended, or under a state Act to be a Commissioner for Declarations.
- A Notary Public.
- A person appointed as a Commissioner for Declarations under the Statutory Declarations Act 1911, or under that Act as amended, and holding office immediately before the commencement of the Statutory Declarations Act 1959.
Overseas
- A Notary Public.
- A Commissioner of Oaths (South Africa and Canada only).
- A person appointed to hold or act in the office in a country or place outside Australia in an Australian Embassy, High Commission, legation or other post as:
- Australian Consul-General, Consul or Vice-Consul
- Australian Trade Commissioner or Consular Agent
- Australian Ambassador or High Commissioner
- Australian Minister, Head of Mission, Commissioner, Charge d'Affaires or Counsellor
- Australian Secretary or Attache
- a person authorised to perform notarial duties.
Note: A Justice of the Peace registered outside Australia is not accepted by the AMC for witnessing documentation.
Certification of documents The AMC will accept the certification shown in the AMC policy on Certification of documentation. Application forms and documents that are not certified in this way are not legally recognised in Australia and will not be accepted. |
