The Bridging for Overseas-Trained Professionals Loan Scheme (BOTPLS) makes interest-free loans to overseas-trained professionals to pay fees for approved bridging courses that will enable the borrower to meet or prepare to meet Australian educational entry requirements. It is similar to the deferred payment arrangements available under the Higher Education Contribution Scheme and the Postgraduate Education Loans Scheme.
Eligible overseas-trained professionals who are citizens or permanent residents of Australia can access these loans.
Assistance may also be available to eligible overseas-trained professionals under the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition Assessment Fee Subsidy for Disadvantaged Overseas-Trained Australian Residents to pay fees for the examinations conducted by the Australian Medical Council.
