The Australian Medical Council's (AMC) Assessment and Accreditation of
Medical Schools: Standards and Procedures provides for accredited
medical schools to seek reaccreditation when a period of accreditation
expires. Accreditation is based on the medical program demonstrating
that it satisfies the Accreditation Standards for basic medical
education. The school prepares a submission for reaccreditation. An AMC
team assesses the submission and visits the school and its clinical
teaching sites.
